Temporary works checking, structural assessment and finite-element analysis Tunnel Engineering carried out an independent Category 3 design check for façade installation at Project Ultra, a 23-storey life sciences development at North Quay, Canary Wharf. Our scope covered the capacity of the permanent reinforced concrete floor slabs to support temporary loads from façade panel storage, handling and mini-crane operations.
The work included:
- Review of the proposed loading arrangements and installation sequence.
- Finite-element modelling of the floor slabs.
- Assessment of concentrated loads from stillages, launching tables and crane outriggers.
Verification of slab bending and punching shear capacity.
