This Privacy Policy explains how Tunnel Engineering Limited uses personal information relating to visitors to tunnel.engineering, consultancy enquiries, prospective clients and business contacts. It also covers subscriptions to our consultancy newsletter.
Tunnel Engineering Limited is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 13475177. Our registered office is 220 Vale Road, Tonbridge, Kent, TN9 1SP, United Kingdom.
For privacy questions, rights requests or complaints, email welcome@tunnel.engineering, telephone 01732 445780, or write to our registered office, marked “Privacy enquiry”.
You may give us your name, organisation, job role, email address, telephone number, project location, service requirements, programme, correspondence and attachments. Drawings, reports and photographs may contain personal information about you or other people. Please provide only what is relevant and ensure you are authorised to share it. Do not send unnecessary sensitive personal information through the general enquiry form.
We also receive business contact details from clients, colleagues, professional advisers and project partners when they introduce a contact or ask us to discuss a project. We may use publicly available business contact information to verify an organisation or respond to a relevant business enquiry.
Our website and its service providers may record IP addresses, browser and device information, pages requested, timestamps, referring pages and security or error logs. Optional analytics and embedded services are addressed in section 5. Newsletter records include your email address, subscription choice, consent record and unsubscribe requests.
Enquiries and quotations: we use contact and project information to understand your request, assess whether we can help, communicate and prepare a proposal. Where you are personally the prospective contracting party, this is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract. Where you represent an organisation, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and developing relevant business relationships.
Business administration: we use correspondence and contact information to manage relationships, appointments and records. Our bases are performance of a contract with you where applicable, legitimate interests in operating our consultancy and maintaining appropriate records, and legal obligations where a specific record must be retained or disclosed.
Security and legal matters: we use relevant technical and correspondence records to prevent misuse, investigate faults, protect our systems, resolve complaints and establish or defend legal claims. We rely on legitimate interests in protecting our business and users, or a legal obligation where applicable. We assess whether those interests are overridden by your rights.
Newsletter: we rely on your consent to send the consultancy newsletter requested through the website. Submitting a project enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. We retain a limited suppression record under our legitimate interest in respecting your preference.
Providing information is generally voluntary. Fields identified as required are needed to process the relevant request; if they are not supplied, we may be unable to respond or prepare a proposal. Newsletter subscription and optional cookies are not conditions of making an enquiry. Additional project-specific privacy information will be provided where necessary.
We share relevant information only where needed with hosting, website maintenance, email, IT support, security, cloud-storage, business-record and newsletter service providers; professional advisers and insurers; and specialist associates or project partners involved in assessing or delivering a requested commission. Access is limited to what is appropriate for their role. Providers acting on our instructions are subject to suitable data-processing terms. Some advisers and authorities act as separate controllers.
We may disclose information where required by law or necessary for legal claims, regulatory enquiries or a business reorganisation, using appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or provide enquiry details to other organisations for their own marketing.
Cookies and similar technologies may be used to provide essential site functions and remember choices. We ask for your permission before using optional analytics, marketing or other non-essential storage/access technologies. You can change your choice through Cookie settings; rejecting optional technologies does not prevent a consultancy enquiry.
Embedded maps, videos and social features can disclose technical information to their providers when loaded. Where these features require consent, they remain disabled until you choose to enable them. Ordinary links take you to a separate service whose privacy notice applies. Our Cookie settings information identifies the technologies actually used, their providers, purposes and durations.
We retain information only for the relevant purpose and any justified legal or record-keeping need. The applicable periods and criteria are:
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and appropriate arrangements with providers. No online transmission or storage system is completely secure. Contact us to agree a suitable transfer method for particularly sensitive project documents.
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of use or transfer of certain information to you or another provider. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and may object to direct marketing at any time. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Contact us using section 1 to exercise these rights. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. Requests are normally free and answered within one month, subject to the extensions, clarifications and exceptions permitted by law. If we cannot comply fully, we will explain why and the options available to you.
We do not use the information covered by this policy to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you. The consultancy website is intended for professional and business use and is not directed at children.
You can make a data protection complaint by email, telephone or post using section 1. We will acknowledge it within 30 days, make appropriate enquiries, keep you informed and communicate the outcome without undue delay. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
We will review this policy when our activities or legal requirements change. The current version and its update date will appear on the website. Where required, we will bring significant changes to your attention before using information for a new purpose.
